Target Audience

This program is intended for endocrinologists, primary care providers, including NPs, and PAs, and other healthcare professionals (HCPs) who manage patients with diabetes. 

Program Learning Goal

The goal of this program is to improve the knowledge, competence, and performance of learners in effort to optimize the use of basal insulin for the treatments of patients with diabetes

Learning Objectives

Upon completion of this activity, participants should be able to:

  • Recognize the role of basal insulin based on guideline recommendations, patient-specific factors, and management goals 

  • Apply strategies to address barriers to insulin initiation that promote acceptance, adherence, and safe use 

  • Develop individualized treatment plans using basal insulin to achieve glycemic goals in patients with diabetes

  • Evaluate the efficacy and safety of emerging once-weekly insulin formulations for the management of diabetes

American Board of Internal Medicine Maintenance of Certification

Successful completion of this activity, which includes participation in the evaluation component, enables the participant to earn up to 0.25 Medical Knowledge MOC points in the American Board of Internal Medicine's (ABIM) Maintenance of Certification (MOC) program. Participants will earn MOC points equivalent to the amount of CME credits claimed for the activity. It is the CME activity provider's responsibility to submit participant completion information to ACCME for the purpose of granting ABIM MOC credit.

To receive CME credit and/or MOC points, you MUST pass the post-test and complete the evaluation.
